This full time- day, evening, weekend shift position, starts immediately and reports to the Director of Community Housing.

The qualified applicant is required to have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with individual(s) with extreme behaviors and complex care needs. The new team member will work within a larger interdisciplinary team to provide a program which will include recreation, life skills, social opportunities, regulation skills, may include some personal care and other opportunities that are set out by the team. This individual in care displays extreme aggressive behaviors and language. If you have worked with vulnerable youth in a complex care setting, hold a CYC, CSW, ECE with a special needs certificate, or relevant certificates, diplomas or degrees and are passionate about supporting youth with disabilities, we would love to talk with you.

These are some of the responsibilities and duties that will be required:

•Some personal care needs

•Working 1-1 with the child/youth in their residential home

•Be able to work week days, weekends and evenings

•Working with the youth program or within the community at large

•Providing a recreational based program that allows the child/youth to explore safely

•Communicating with the team through documentation, meetings and log books

•Promote health and safety at all times

•Have patience and understanding of the child/youth and the situation

The qualified applicant will be able to provide the following:

•Must be 19 years of age

•Valid BC Class 5 Drivers License

•Ministry of Child and Family Development Screening, Employer will file

•Drivers Abstract

•RCMP Criminal Record Check

•Criminal Records Review Act Schedule A -Employer will file

•Current Ministry of Health Approved First Aid Certificate including CPR

•Physician’s Declaration

•3 References

•TB Screen

•Education and/or minimum 2 years’ experience working with youth at risk, children with developmental disabilities and children with challenging behaviours (CYC,CSW, ECE- special needs)

•Independent work is required

•Be able to work in stressful environment

•Excellent interpersonal behaviour and communication skills
